You can probably tell by now that I LOVE revamping and refreshing the rooms in my home! I dove into this project head first, and the results (and headaches) were totally worth it. One unique feature of my bedroom is the brick wall. The rustic finish was beautiful, but sometimes you just crave change! I went for the solid white look to compliment my dark flooring. I kept most of the bedroom decor the same, updating a few pieces. Keep reading to see the before and after of my most intense project thus far!

For a little while now I have been looking for a new project to work on, and after some brainstorming I came up with the vision to brighten up my bedroom! I love the brick wall in this room, it has its own charm to it but I needed a change. Some people thought I was crazy for doing this (for a second there I believed them) but I pushed through anyways!

I started with a couple coats of mortar and this is where I began to question my decision but coats of Faux Limewash gave me a glisten of hope! Then things really took a turn for the worst when the limewash made my wall look yellow. I was SO worried and thought I had made a mistake but I decided to remedy the situation by painting it white. Thankfully I am as stubborn as I am determined and couldn’t wait to see the final product! I am SO glad I didn’t give up on this project, scroll to see why!

The Brick After | My Bedroom Project

Look at how much brighter this room is, it honestly makes such a difference! As I said, I didn’t make TOO many changes to my bedroom regarding furniture. I mean after all, the brick wall is the star of the show. I swapped out my Pottery Barn lamp for a sleek Crate & Barrel Sandstone one! Do you notice what other change I made? Those framed canvas pieces were the perfect addition and fit beautifully above my bed. Even the simplest piece has the power to make a room more inviting. When it comes to bedding, you all know I am a huge fan of layering. Soft sheets, quilt bedding, accent pillows, and of course…. the coziest knit blankets! All of those layers may seem like a lot BUT this is how you achieve that designer look.

You should love the room you sleep in, it’s where you rest and relax! Even the slightest refresh can make such a difference in a vital space in your home. If you’ve been thinking about starting a bedroom project or have been wondering what to work on next, I hope I’ve inspired you to get started. Don’t be nervous if there are bumps along the way, it will all be worth it!
