This was an absolute whirlwind of a project! I always love inspiring and encouraging you all to tackle your own home projects but this one felt less than inspiring at first. However, now having seen this playroom really come to life, I am grateful I was able to take you all on this journey with me!

I have been getting A LOT of comments asking about the color in this room or really.. the lack thereof. Yes, this is my kids playroom and yes, there are toys (stowed away in the closet). When it comes to my home, I love all things neutral and strive to create a calm and organized oasis. My kids are old enough to respect a space like this and it has actually become our new favorite spot to gather as a family! Keep scrolling to see each stage of this playrooms transformation.

See! Toys – quite literally everywhere! This space ultimately became a catch-all for toys, games, and books alike. There really was no rhyme or reason to this area, which is when I knew this would be the perfect project! I knew I had my work cut out for me, but I rarely ever stray from a challenge. It was time to say goodbye to wall decals and to say hello to a whole new room!

The less than exciting portion and honestly, the biggest hurdle of this entire project. We chose the wood we wanted, once it was installed and stained – I knew something wasn’t right. It was dark and uneven across the entire wall. These pieces of wood were cut from two different trees which is why the stain doesn’t look consistent – which we couldn’t have known until it was installed. We tried our best to fix it ourselves but after a lot of hard work, sweat, (and some tears) – we decided to demo it. I knew it was going to be a pain and a half to remove and re-install but my heart wasn’t in it. We had our contractor remove all of the panels and trim in order to start over. I knew what I had envisioned and wasn’t going to settle for anything less. It isn’t always easy to advocate for yourself and your vision but it’s important that you do!

Now, THIS is exactly what I had envisioned, maybe even better! This light, natural tone is the breath of fresh air that this space needs. I decided to contrast the light wall and area rug with this darker cabinet. Never be afraid to use contrasting colors, especially in your home – it adds depth and dimension to a space! We decided to dress up the TV with a frame to achieve a more elevated look. It complements the wall sconces beautifully. This accent cabinet also features a ton of storage space, which is perfect for a busy playroom!

This sofa is the coziest! It’s perfect for us to cuddle up and read a good book or watch TV. The wall shelves are the perfect decor piece to showcase a couple of playroom favorites while maintaining an elevated look. We love the natural light that fills this room which is why I didn’t opt to add any window treatments! I did add some of my favorite throw pillow covers to this space to add a bit of texture to the sofa.

I had the pleasure of partnering with Ashley Furniture for this home project and each of their pieces exceeded my expectations. Now the real question is.. which room do I transform next??
