I knew I wanted to refresh my home office but it took me a while to decide how EXACTLY I was going to do that. I said goodbye to floating shelves and hello to built in’s! Oddly enough, now I have much more room to display my favorite home decor pieces AND still have enough desk space to work. This project was definitely about the little details. I am loving these new accent chairs from AllModern! They’re soft and deep enough to cozy up with a good book. These are perfect for those moments when I need a break from my real office chair OR if I need to host a meeting! I am a firm believer that side tables are meant for more than coasters and photo frames. This textured vase and table clock are the perfect tabletop decor finds!

I love having all of this space to showcase my tried and true favorite home decor items. You can put so much personality and charm into a room simply by the decor pieces you choose. There is actually a little bit of a science to styling your shelves. It’s important to remember that sometimes less is more – don’t be afraid to use one item on a shelf! See! Using one item on a shelf can have a big impact. Of course I focus on neutral toned items but it creates a cohesive look! Another tip when styling shelves, whether it’s built-in’s like mine or floating shelves, is utilizing different textures and height. You can use books to add a little height to your other decor pieces.

Isn’t this so satisfying? After having such limited space on these walls, I am SO excited for these built-ins! I opted for pieces of different tones and textures. Adding a touch of variety to a space can really make a difference. The white cabinets contrast beautifully with the wooden shelves!
